Long wait for CBSE results continues
It has been an anxious wait for the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) students, with the dates of their results yet to be announced.Initially, it was said that the results of Class XII would be declared on May 16, a couple of days after which Class X results was supposed to be announced. Later, it was reported that May 19 would be the D-day for CBSE Class XII students, who were keeping their fingers crossed.“Although I have performed reasonably well in the exams, the wait seems to be never-ending and makes me worried. If we get to know it soon, we can relax a bit. Even an announcement of the date of results would be enough to soothe our nerves,” said Shama B, a Class XII student. Many other students also share their views and add that it would be worse for Class X students, who can get to know their results only after a couple of days from the Class XII results announcement.“Moreover, they can’t handle the pressure of expectation well, which could lead to more stress,” pointed out Ranjit Dhar, a parent. “We haven’t got any official announcement yet, but I got to know from the regional officer that the results might be out by this weekend,” said Principal of JSS Public School, Gowri B Nataraja. Usually, the results are announced by the third or fourth week of May.“Since we have submitted results online this time and the board has to announce results region-wise, it takes some time. However, it is true that the delay makes teachers, parents and students nervous,” she added.Chairman of the Bangalore Sahodaya Schools Complex, Sridevi S A said, “This is not the first year it has taken this long for the official announcement. Like students, we should also look at the official website to know the results,” she explained. This year, about eight lakh students have appeared for Class XII exams and almost 11 lakh for the Class X exams, with almost half of them opting for Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE).Students with grades A to D would get qualifying certificates and students with Grade E and below would have to reappear for the improvement chance assessment.Students can checkhttp://cbseresults.nic.in for results.www.fatimagirienglishschool.blogspot.com

CBSE launches eligibility test for teachers
NAGPUR: The first ever central teacher eligibility test (CTET) will be conducted on June 26 by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This test will be the qualifying exam for people intending to teach Classes I-VIII of central government-run schools where CBSE syllabus is taught. The National Council for Teachers' Education (NCTE) had mandated a single eligibility test be held for teachers across the country. Clearing this test will now be mandatory for applicants who wants to teach at central government-run schools like Kendriya and Navodaya Vidyalayas. This was made mandatory under the Right To Education act (RTE) and the CBSE was asked to conduct the exam.
Private schools following CBSE syllabus may or may not insist on it. Also, existing teachers need not take it. It is only for new entrants. CBSE said in its website, "it is desirable to ensure that quality requirement for recruitment of teachers is not diluted at any cost. It is therefore necessary to ensure that persons recruited as teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at the primary and upper primary level."
